Jim and Don Peart
The Peart family has been farming in California since the 1860s. And over the years, they’ve gained a healthy respect for the air, land and water that nurture their crops. That’s why today, Don Peart and his son Jim have adopted conservation practices that help protect the soil and water they rely upon to grow almonds near Arbuckle in Northern California.
Jim is proud of their no-till program, which doesn’t disturb the naturally occurring plants growing between their almond trees. In return, the plants hold the soil in place and help preserve a valuable resource.
“It’s something we’ve tried really hard to make fit into our program, and it’s worked out well,” says Jim, who farms alongside his father.
Equally important to the Pearts is preserving consumer confidence by growing the most wholesome almonds possible.
“Food safety starts on the farm,” Jim says. “We do everything we can to ensure a healthy, safe product comes out of our orchards.”
Jim points out that Blue Diamond Growers shares their commitment to almond quality. “It’s also nice to know that Blue Diamond is doing all they can to ensure a clean, safe product for the consumer.”
